Obituary of Dale Schmidt
Dale Frederick Schmidt, 72, of Chester, NJ passed away on June 25, 2017 in Morristown, NJ. Dale was born on April 6, 1945 in Peru, Indiana to Frederick and Dorothy (Smith) Schmidt, where Fred served as a Naval Flight Instructor during WWII. He grew up in Monticello, New York where he loved to fish, play soccer, and was awarded Eagle Scout at the age of 18.
Dale earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from New York University, and a MBA degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo. Soon after, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife, Linda. They started their family in Toledo, Ohio in 1982 and moved to Chester, New Jersey in 1993.
Dale had a passion for ensuring the well-being of others. This was evident in his career as well as in his personal life. He served as a chemical and environmental engineer – most recently as Director of Safety and Environmental Affairs at C.R. Bard. Dale loved serving others; whether it was on mission trips to Brazil or mentoring youth hockey players. He was a very active member – and Deacon in his later years – at Grace Bible Chapel where he will be remembered most for his tireless work ethic and integrity. He had a curious mind, and was a lifelong learner.
He was a devoted husband and father, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Linda (Kenoyer) Schmidt; three devoted sons, Andrew, Peter, and Joshua; mother, Dorothy Schmidt; brother, Gary Charles Schmidt; three nephews, Daniel Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt, and Seth Kenoyer; niece, Hannah (Kenoyer) DeJonghe; father-in-law, Fred Kenoyer; and by his brother-in-law John Kenoyer. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick Charles Schmidt, and by his sister-in-law Mary May Schmidt.
