Margaret June Hoffman, 74, of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Monday January 28, 2018 at her home. Margaret, also known as Peggy, was born in Orange, NJ, October 13, 1944 to the late James and Phyllis Lexa. Peggy later lived in Newark, NJ and Irvington, NJ, before residing in Long Valley, NJ for the last 48 years. Peggy graduated from Montclair State College, 1966 with a teaching degree. Peggy spent the bulk of her teaching career as an English Teacher at Roxbury High School from 1982-2008, from which she retired. She loved watching sports, specifically college sports and adored her favorite TV show Castle. Peggy was a poet, avid reader and writer who has written well over 100 reviews of her favorite show using her signature handle ‘Trueheart Peggy’.
She is survived by her loving daughter Cassandra Leigh Anderson and her partner Carl R. Shotwell, Jr; cherished granddaughter, Savannah Leigh Anderson; two loving sisters, Janis Kotch and her husband Hartmut of Toms River, and Jean Feltz and her husband Neil of Whiting, NJ; Peggy will be missed by her many lifelong friends, her loving nieces, nephews and their children.
Margaret’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Saturday February 2, 2019 from 11AM – 1PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Rd. (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Service will begin at 1PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at German Valley Rural Cemetery in Long Valley.
