Obituary of James Erbe
James J. "Jim" Erbe, 85, of Flanders, NJ passed peacefully at home on July 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and his beloved dog Cola.
Jim was born on December 8th, 1932 in Spring Lake, NJ. Jim was the son of the late William J. and Esther (Redmond) Erbe of Spring Lake, NJ. He grew up and resided in Spring Lake for many years, moved to San Diego, CA and finally settled down in Flanders. Jim was a mechanic at the family owned Erbe's Garage on Ludlow Avenue in Spring Lake, NJ before following his passion as a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic and proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825. An avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist, he enjoyed boating, spending time traveling, working in his garage, watching NASCAR, and listening to Country & Western.
Jim is survived by his five children Donna Kutz (Douglas) of Manasquan, NJ, Diane McKelvey (John Wise) of Ocean, NJ, Jimmy Erbe Jr. (Kathy) of Pawleys Island, SC, Debra Erbe of Brick, NJ, and Kathleen Erbe (Richard Wagner) of Flanders, NJ; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; beloved former spouse Edna Errickson Erbe; and by many other loving family members, colleagues, and friends. He was predeceased by his second wife, Jeanette and by his four siblings, Billy, Philip, John, and Margaret Ann.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held privately by the family at a later date.
