Visitation at Funeral Home
Obituary of Anne Winter
Anne Mary Winter, 97, of Iselin, NJ passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. A child of Ukrainian immigrants, Anne was born in Providence, RI and grew up in Newark, NJ. Immeasurably strong at heart, she endured a difficult childhood and found true happiness when she met the love of her life, George Winter. Together, they spent 58 happy years and lovingly created a family with 2 beautiful children, Georgeanne and Gregory. In the last year of her life, she lived at Sunrise of Randolph, NJ, but lived on her own in Iselin for over 55 years until age 96. Anne was a retired bank secretary for the Bank of Colonia and also worked at Ohrbach's department store in Newark. However, she was most proud of her volunteer work at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ where she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year at age 90 and used her gifted hands to knit baby hats for AIDS babies.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Anne loved to socialize, connect and talk, and could stay on the phone for hours with family and friends. Anne liked crocheting, knitting, sewing and cross- stitching, talents she learned from her hard-working mother. She was an amazing typist and loved to read. Sweet at heart, Anne thoroughly enjoyed eating pastries and cookies, but her favorite treat was ice cream. She was a night owl who loved to stay up late, watching TV, knitting or reading. Most of all, Anne loved living and she lived life to the fullest. All those blessed to know her were graced with her positive attitude, unwavering enthusiasm and support, warm smiles and boisterous conversation. Having known the pain of loss, she devoted her life to giving all of herself to the happiness of others and faced many of life's trials with tremendous strength, an open heart and fearless stoicism. She served as a model of determination, generosity and spunk to all those around her, and all who crossed her path were touched by her humor, zest for life and compassion.
Anne is survived by her grandchildren, Robert M. Pearsall, Coleen Pearsall Fletcher and husband Gregg, and Maureen Anne Pearsall and fiancé Craig Fleishman, her great-grandson, Heath Fletcher, and her nieces and nephews, Michael Semenock, Mary Merrell, Anne Wambach, Elizabeth Merrell, John Merrell, Kristin Walker, Heather Kelley, Harrison Semenock, and Ben and Sam Wambach. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, George Winter, her children, Georgeanne C. Pearsall and Gregory D. Winter, and her brother, Harry Semenock.
A celebration of Anne's life will include a visitation on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5 to 8pm at the William J.
