Obituary of David Dec

David Dec died while descending from Mount Aspiring in New Zealand on  September 22, 2018.

David was born in Montgomery Township before moving to Tewksbury, New Jersey where he attended grade school.  He graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island and continued his education at Raritan Valley Community College and later earned a BA degree from Evergreen College in Olympia, Washington.  David remained in the Olympia area becoming a treasured member of the  community there. David  had recently completed further training as a Dental Assistant and was planning on working in the field upon his return from New Zealand.  David was an avid outdoor person and he traveled extensively. He loved hiking, skiing, and mushroom hunting in the mountains.

He is survived by his parents, Walter and Ellen (Nash) Dec, his siblings, Ellynne, Walter, Jaymes and Jeffery, their spouses, his beloved nieces and nephews, Antonella, Alexander, Lucia, Eva, Elizabella and Bridger.  His family and many friends worldwide will miss him immensely - David was a person who gave more to any relationship than he received.  He will particularly be mourned by the Olympia community where he volunteered his services in many areas.

There will be Memorial Mass for David  held on Saturday October 13, 2018 at 12 noon at St. Luke Parish, 265 West Muill Rd. in Long Valley, NJ. The family will recieve relatives and friends from 11:00am to 12:00 pm prior to the Mass.Interment will be held privately by the family
