Obituary of John Posta

John Posta, 77, of Edison, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Compassionate Care in patient Hospice facility at the Dover St Clare’s hospital.  John was born August 28, 1941 in Newark NJ and was raised by his devoted father Louis and wonderfully loving mother Lucy in their Belleville home.  After attending St. Peter’s Catholic school through grade eight he graduated from Bellville High in 1959.  He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University before moving on to Texas for Officer Training School in the US Air Force. He became Captain John Posta and served during the Vietnam war from 63-68.  While stationed in the mid-west he received an MBA from the University of Illinois and later acquired degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

During John’s working life he assisted in the patenting and inventing of more than 50 items including aspects of LCD screens, laser components, and Vacuum Florescent technologies that are commonly recognized as the segmented bar style lights that make up the numbers on a microwave’s clock.  He worked for well known innovative manufacturing companies like RCA, Timex, Commodore Computers and CFM Technologies.  As a VP of Manufacturing he was a perfectionist at work and was appreciated for his efficiency, creativity, logical thinking and encouragement of all his employees to always do their best.  His motto being, “Do it once, do it right.”

Throughout his life John had a great passion for water skiing and automobiles eventually becoming a certified race car driver through Skip Barber Racing School in Lime Rock, CT.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching football on Sundays, a good Comedy movie and, more than anything else, he enjoyed a good meal.

John battled heart disease for 20 years and fought the good fight right to the end. He was predeceased by his father Louis, mother Lucy, sister Roseanne Lovell and daughter Dawn Bell. He will be missed a great deal by his extended family and by all who knew and loved him, especially his surviving sister, Sarah Costantino and his daughters, Elaine Pisacreta and Patricia Posta, their spouses and their sons, Jonpaul, Daniel and Enzo.

John’s Memorial Services will be held on Saturday November 17, 2018 from 5-8pm.  Eulogies will begin at 6:30pm. Please come celebrate with us at William J. Leber Funeral Home located at 15 Furnace Rd (corner of rt 206) in Chester NJ.  908-879-3090.
