Obituary of Frederick Detoro

Frederick "Fred" R. Detoro of Flanders passed away Saturday November 10, 2018 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover.

He was 76.

Born in the Naughright section of Long Valley, he was a lifelong resident of Flanders.

A claims adjuster with Allstate Insurance in Cranford prior to his retirement 20 years ago, Fred was Past Chief of the Flanders Fire and Rescue Squad. He held many other positions with the Squad. Currently president of the Mt. Olive Relief Association, he was the first Fire Marshall of Mt. Olive Twp.

A fan of NASCAR and a builder of Hot Rods, Fred could fix anything. He enjoyed traveling in his RV, especially to Fort Meyers Beach and Disney World.

Beloved husband for 57 years of Catherine (nee: Hansen). Devoted father of Frederick J., Bridget Terrezza and her husband Eugene, Kathleen Preziosi and her husband Jeffrey, Maureen Kowalik and her husband Andrew and the late Charles. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Christopher, Anthony, Kelsey, Morgan, Ashley, Meghan, Riley and Andrew.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Fred's Life Celebration on Wednesday November 14 from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM -9:00PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road, Chester (908-879-3090). A Firefighter's Service will be held at 8:00PM

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday November 15 at 10:00AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Flanders.

Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
