Obituary of Peter James Mikedes
Peter James Mikedes, 89, recently of Budd Lake, NJ passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Merry Heart Nursing Home. Peter was born on October 25, 1929 in the Jackson Heights section of Queens, NY to the late James Petro Mikedes and Cleo (Georgiou) Mikedes. He grew up in Queens and at the age of 6, his family moved to their homeland of Nicosia, Cyprus. Peter lived in Cyprus until the age of 15 when a war forced them to move back to the United States. He later raised his family in West Caldwell, NJ before living in Kinnelon, NJ, and Parsippany, NJ. Peter received his undergraduate from Southern Methodist University in Texas, and a Master's Degree from Northwestern University in Illinois. He worked as a Combustion Engineer/Project Manager for CE Lummus in Bloomfield, NJ. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a Navigator Bombardier.
Peter enjoyed investing and trading stocks, dancing (especially the fox trot), selling real-estate, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Peter is survived by his children, Jim Mikedes, Marie Blasi and her husband Chris, and John Mikedes and his wife Denise Nicholls; loving "Papou" to Jimmy Mikedes, CJ Blasi, Michael Blasi, and Jacqualyne Houck.
The services will be held privately by Peter's family. A Private burial will take place at Washington's Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
