Obituary of Donald Robert Anderson

Donald Robert Anderson, 78, of Chester, NJ passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. Don was born in Orange, NJ and grew up in West Orange, NJ. He graduated from Upsala University in East Orange. He was a long time resident of Chester for the past 36 years and was previously of Morris Township, NJ. Don was a Consultant at MetLife for much of his career and more recently was a Customer Service Representative at T.D. Bank in Bridgewater, NJ where he enjoyed many great friendships.

Don loved nature and spending time outdoors, especially sailing on Barnegat Bay and camping with his family. One of his lifelong interests was HO scale model trains. Don was more than a handyman around the house and enjoyed working in the yard and teaching his children how to fix and build all sorts of things. Most of all, Don was a family man, and loved coaching his children's teams when they were younger and being involved and supporting them and their many interests throughout their lives. Don whole-heartedly loved family gatherings and was most spirited when he was surrounded by his nieces and nephews, his children and the rest of his family.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Anderson, his children, Erik Anderson, Lisa Mehta and her husband Hemang, and Matt Anderson and his wife Jen, his grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Carole Anderson, and his beloved cocker spaniel, Molly. He was predeceased by his brother, Dale Anderson.

An 11:00 am service will be held on Saturday May 11th, 2019 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Gladstone, NJ. An Ice Cream Social will be held in the Church's reception hall following the service at 12:00 pm to share memories and celebrate one of Don's favorite foods! Please feel welcome to join the family for either or both the Church Service and the Ice Cream Social as your schedule permits.
