Obituary of Robert Joseph Petrakian

Robert "Bob" Joseph Petrakian, 84, of Long Valley, NJ passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at home. Bob was born on August 12, 1935 in Bayonne, NJ and grew up in Bernardsville, NJ. He has lived in Long Valley for the past 20 years and previously lived in Chester, NJ. Bob was a general contractor and owner of Bob (Best of Builders) Construction and previously owned Bob's Donut and Bagel Factory in Chester, NJ. Bob was a proud veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War.

Bob had a good work ethic. He loved having a good time and was always the life of the party. Bob enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. He liked to sail and had boats on Lake Hopatcong and Atlantic Highlands over the years. Most of all, Bob was extremely proud of his family.

Bob is survived by his sons, Dennis Bettler and wife Linda and Lex Petrakian and wife Brenda, his grandchildren, Brian, Kurt, Clint, Jodi, and Frankie, his siblings, John, Elizabeth Baker, Margie Halko, Walt and Jimmy, his son-in-law, Jon Pierro, his nephew, Ed Bagonyi, and many other nieces, nephews and other family members. He was predeceased by his wife, Gracie Wynn Petrakian, his daughter, Robin Pierro, and brother, Mike Petrakian.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will include a memorial visitation on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. Bob's final interment will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home for our Troops at www.hfotusa.org.
