Obituary of Andrew S Honeycheck

Andrew S. Honeycheck, 76, of Randolph, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Andrew was born on May 26, 1943 in Passaic, NJ to the late Andrew and Agnes Honeycheck. Andrew grew up in Passaic, and lived in Long Valley, before moving to Randolph 16 years ago. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Combat Medic/Surgical Nurse in the 25th Infantry and 101stAirborne during the Vietnam War. Andrew was the Former Commander of the American Legion Post 342 in Chester. He was the Vice President of the Shongum Lake Club, AKA “Hidden Lake”, where he would enjoy many special memories with family and friends. Andrew was also a member of the Corvette Club and recently restored and designed his very own 1972 Giants Blue Corvette. He was a passionate sports fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. He also was a NJ State Certified Baseball and Softball Umpire and member of several umpire organizations, and over the years he has shared his love of the game and sense of fairness actively as an umpire. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Linda J. (Mahan) Honeycheck; two devoted children, Andrew S. Honeycheck Jr.and wife Lindsey Trella, and Holli C. Honeycheck; Linda’s two children, Melinda Morra and Candi Krueger; cherished grandson, Atlantic Honeycheck; and by many other loving family members, friends, and colleagues. Andrew’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 5PM – 9PM at the William J. LeberFuneral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. The American Legion will Honor their fallen comrade with a brief service beginning at 5PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:30PM at the Funeral Home and will conclude with the Presentation of Military Honors by the United States Army. Interment will be held privately by Andrew’s Family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, 44900 Prentice Drive Dulles, Virginia 20166. An Insight to Andrew’s Career Andrew Honeycheck is Marketing Communications Manager for Pharma Polymers, Evonik Degussa Corporation (formerly Rohm GmbH). Other positions have included: National Sales Manager and Manager US Eudragit® Operations, Rohm Tech. Andy’s responsibilities have encompassed product technical support, logistics, regulatory affairs, warehousing, website development, advertising, marketing and communications. During his 26 year tenure with Evonik/Rohm GmbH Andy has worked to establish and achieve global leading sales of the pharmaceutical excipient Eudragit, which is now recognized across the industry as the standard excipient for enteric coatings within the USA. He is responsible for developing the Eudragit Basic and Advanced Training Workshops which have succeeded in furthering scientific skills in pharmaceutical coating technology to over 800 scientists over a 9 year period. Andy was also a pioneer within the industry in implementing the expansion of these educational programs beyond geographical limitations via webinars. Andy has also lectured at various universities and received numerous awards for his lectures on Pharmaceutical Coating technology. Prior to working for Evonik/Rohm GmbH, Andy was employed by Dianon Technology, introducing the LASA test for tumor markers to practicing Oncologists in the northeast section of the US. Andy has also worked for Hoffmann La Roche in Diagnostic Research R&D. where he contributed to the development of several marketed diagnostic products. Serving as Sales Manager at Roche Clinical Labs he was charged with introducing Laboratory Services to office physicians, where he achieved the highest volume of billed clinical lab services within the US. Promoted again to Pharmaceutical Sales for Roche Labs, he received the President’s Achievement Award, Roche’s highest award of for outstanding pharmaceutical sales. It is however, his formative first-hand experience as a Combat Medic, 25th Infantry Division in Viet Nam and TAMC/Hawaii to which he credits his lifetime appreciation for the medical arts as a team endeavor, and for his personal mission to further hands-on education in the sciences.
