Obituary of Alfred Louis Petaccia

Alfred Louis Petaccia, 90, of Budd Lake, NJ passed away on March 21, 2020 at home. Alfred was born on December 6, 1929 in Union City, NJ to the late Louis and Louise Petaccia. He lived in Union City for many years before moving to Budd Lake over 45 years ago. After graduating from Emerson High School, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and served stateside during the Korean War. He worked as an electroplater/committeeman for 38 years at Bendix in Teterboro, NJ before retiring in 1995. Alfred was a member of the Mt. Olive Seniors and parishioner of St. Jude RC Parish in Budd Lake. He loved spending time at the beach, going crabing, and cooking. His passion in life was his family, friends, and his dogs. He is survived by his two devoted children, Valerie Petaccia, and Steven Petaccia and his wife Patricia. He was predeceased by his wife Louise Catherine Petaccia who passed away on October 20, 2019; and by his sister, Vera Meehan. In accord with the recently issued State and Archdiocese guidelines, a private funeral will be conducted. A Catholic Committal prayer service and private entombment will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Budd Lake First Aid, 365 US-46, Budd Lake, NJ 07828 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Alfred's Life Celebration

At this time all services will be held privately in accord with State Regulations. Alfred's Life Celebration will take place in the future where friends and family can gather to honor this wonderful man. In the meantime, perhaps you might send a card, make a donation, or telephone his family and offer your words of love and support in these difficult days in the absence of being able to be present.
