Obituary of Larry Alessandrini

Lawrence Alessandrini, 71, of Flanders, NJ passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center. Larry was born to the late Lawrence and Angela Alessandrini on January 18, 1949 in Lodi, NJ. He married the love of his life, Jeanne, in 1968. Together they raised a family in the home Larry built in Lodi before moving the family to Parsippany, where they lived for 17 years. Larry graduated from Lodi High School in 1966. He continued his studies at Virginia Tech, NJIT, and Thomas Edison College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction. Larry developed his love for carpentry from the time spent as a child with his beloved grandfather, Jimmy Graz, who was instrumental in shaping him into the strong and caring man he would become. Larry would go on to work in construction and facilities management for 48 years. He started as a carpenter building homes before moving into management roles with Pike Construction and Morlot Carpentry. Later in his career, he served as Associate Director of Housing at Rutgers University. Larry was a proud member of the Carpenters' Local 15 Union. He enjoyed coaching his kids' baseball and basketball teams. He was an active member of the Parsippany PAL and helped build the current recreation center in the 1990's. He enjoyed his Italian food, bow and firearm hunting. He liked traveling, especially his trips to Italy, family vacations in Lake George and Wildwood, and Woodloch with his granddaughters. He loved swimming in his pool, watching anything history-related and above all else spending time with his family. Larry was a hero and an inspiration to his family. He bravely battled diabetes for more than 48 years, never letting it stop him from living his life to the fullest and always being there for the ones he loved. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jeanne (nee Casbar) Alessandrini, his sons, Steven and wife Stefani, Larry and wife Erika, and James, his grandchildren, Jenna and Katelyn, his sister, Phyllis Castiglia and husband Michael, his nieces, Laurie and Danielle, and many other family and friends. Services for Larry will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the America Heart Association.
