Obituary of John L. Ezyske

Chester and Harvey Cedars resident, John L. Ezyske, died suddenly on July 19th in his home in Harvey Cedars. He was 59 years old. Born on January 19, 1951, to Theodore and Alma Ezyske of Highland Park, John attended the University of Pittsburgh on a football scholarship, and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Monmouth University. Mr. Ezyske was a practicing CPA and a Registered Municipal Accountant. He was a partner with McEnerney, Brady & Company, LLC, Livingston. John began his professional career with Deloitte & Touche, later founding his own firm, John L. Ezyske and Co. He was a licensed Public School Accountant, Certified as a Municipal Finance Officer and Governmental Financial Manager, as a Financial Forensics, and a Diplomat American Board of Forensic Accounting. He was a member of various associations and societies. John was a Chief Financial Officer Dept of Revenue and Finance for the City of Union City. John served in an advisory capacity to many community and non-profit organizations and was an appointed member of the Board of Trustees of the County College of Morris where he served on the finance, audit and budget committee. He was a loving hardworking man with a rich sense of humor dedicated to his family. He was an avid fisherman, wonderful cook and great story teller. From his college years as a lifeguard on L.B.I., to his later years fishing the deep waters of the "Canyon", you could not separate John from the excitement or serenity of the ocean. His love for open water was second only to the love of his family and he loved his family beyond measure. John was predeceased by his mother, Elma Ezyske, and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his father, Theodore "TJ" Ezyske, his beloved wife of 33 years Marianne Ezyske, his loving children, Casey Ezyske, Kelly Roman and her husband Michael and his sister Mary Regina. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate John's life on Thursday July 22nd from 4pm-8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Rd(corner of rt. 206), Chester, NJ. There will be a 10:30am Funeral Mass offered on Friday July 23rd at St. Lawrence Church in Chester, NJ. Interment will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to the John L. Ezyske Scholarship Fund, c/o County College Of Morris, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph, NJ 07869.
